EDDIE DZIALO

TRAINER

CrossFit has been an integral part of Eddie’s adult life due to its ability to enhance performance and health. After graduating from the University of New Hampshire, Eddie was commissioned as a Marine officer, making him the seventh person in his family to earn the title. As a platoon commander, he served two tours in Iraq and Afghanistan (‘08 and ‘09 respectively) with 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion.

Upon being discharged as a Captain, Eddie struggled to reintegrate into the civilian world, something he talks about openly. After seeking help through traditional sources, he restored his mental and physical health through consistent sleep patterns, clean eating, and daily CrossFit workouts. Ultimately, he became a Boston Firefighter and was assigned to Ladder 17 in the South End. After six years he left to pursue his passion for CrossFit.

ABOUT EDDIE:

While working for the Boston Fire Department, Eddie pursued a Master of Fine Arts, a degree obtained in the summer of 2018. His first short story, “Turkey,” about a Marine veteran who works in a slaughterhouse while battling PTSD, was published in Assignment. When he isn’t doing CrossFit—something he was introduced to in 2007—he plays Dave Matthews Band songs on the guitar, goes to Phish shows, reads David Foster Wallace, and hangs on Lake Norman with his family.
